Zimo’s gear: Garmin Fenix

gaarminIf  I had a GPS wish list it would include the Garmin Fenix. Besides GPS, it has an altimeter, barometer and 3-axis compass with automatic sensor calibration.

One of the coolest things, according to the folks at the Benchmark in Boise, is the battery life. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery gets up to 50 hours in GPS mode, two weeks in sensor mode and six weeks in watch mode.

This baby only weighs 2.9 ounces. It takes up to 1,000 waypoints and stores up to 10,000 track points.

Fenix has TracBack, which reverses the track log to navigate back to your starting point. It also has wireless capability to share routes, tracks, waypoints with other devices.

Cost: $399.99; seen at the Benchmark in Boise.
