Human Rights Book Club: A book club that is dedicated to reading and discussing topics relevant to the advancement of global human rights. Meeting the second Thursday of every-other month starting in January at 7 p.m. at the Black History Museum. March’s book is “In the Garden of Beasts” by Erik Larson. Second annual Writers in the Attic Competition: Now through Friday, Feb. 22, submission will be accepted for the second annual Writers in the Attic writing competition. This year’s theme is “detour.” Stories will be blind-judged by a local literary notable and be published as part of the Writers in the Attic 2013 anthology.
