Weekend wrap-up: Floating the Main Payette

Go Left, Chief Parrish, Mixmaster and AMF rapids on the Main Payette River are the perfect way to cool off on a hot July day.

The river is running at an excellent flow for rafting and kayaking. It have been somewhere in the neighborhood of 3,700 cfs lately.

The Payette River system, with outflows from Deadwood and Cascade reservoirs is holding up well for water because those drainages fared pretty well with snowpack last winter compared to other areas like the Boise River drainage.

Anyway, it’s prime time for splashy river running on the Main Payette. Expect a full parking lot at Banks by 11 a.m. on weekend days. It’s packed.
