Verizon challenges students to create apps

The Verizon Foundation is looking for middle and high school students who’ve got a great idea for an app.

The foundation, in conjunction with the Technology Student Association, is accepting ideas in the Verizon Innovative App Challenge through Dec. 3.

The contest is designed to engage students in science, technology engineering and math.

Winners can get a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, cash grants of up to $20,000 for their school or the chance to work with app experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to built their app.
