Wyatt Smith, Emmett: The junior running back has the Huskies off to a 3-0 start after last week’s 24-0 victory over Nampa. Smith finished the game with 25 carries for 215 yards and two touchdowns. He also completed one pass of 51 yards to Nathan Hundley for a TD and caught one pass for nine yards. On defense, Smith added four tackles.
Katie Elgan, Rocky Mountain: The senior middle blocker led the Grizzlies to two victories last week and a 5-0 overall record. In a three-set win over Capital, Elgan had 12 kills, 15 digs, five blocks and two aces. She then added 18 kills, 14 digs, three aces and two blocks in a four-game win against Eagle.
Gabby Callis, Kuna: The senior forward posted eight goals in three Kavemen victories last week. Callis had five goals in a 9-2 win against Nampa on Monday, one goal in a 4-2 victory over Skyview on Wednesday, and finished off the week with 2 more goals in a 4-2 win over Columbia on Thursday.
Almir Hasanovic, Capital: The junior forward helped the Eagles earn a pair of 5-1 victories over Mountain View and Meridian last week. Hasanovic had two goals against Mountain View and two goals and one assist against Meridian.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Sam McKinnon, Mountain View: The senior won the Tiger-Grizz Invitational at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls against a field of more than 30 teams. McKinnon finished in 18 minutes, 49.12 seconds on the same course that will be used for this year’s state meet.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
Andrew Rafla, Timberline: The senior was the top finisher among District Three runners with his second-place run at the Tiger-Grizz Invitational at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. Rafla ran the course in 16 minutes, 9.22 seconds, which ranks as the fourth fastest time in the state this season, according to athletic.net.
