Varsity Extra athletes of the week (Oct. 28-Nov. 2)

J.T. Williams, Eagle: The Mustangs handed previously unbeaten Capital a 31-28 loss in the 5A SIC regular-season finale for both teams. Williams completed 10-of-21 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 232 more yards.


Makayla Stockett, Parma: The Panthers took second at the state tournament at Coeur d’Alene High, which is their best finish since they moved up to the 3A classification. Stockett, a senior outside hitter, led the Panthers in kills each match, totaling 93 kills in five tournament matches.


Sam McKinnon, Mountain View: The senior backed up her District Three championship with a win at the 5A state meet at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. McKinnon was the only female runner to break the 19-minute mark at state, completing the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 26.31 seconds.


Andrew Rafla, Timberline: The senior won his first state title with a victory on the 5-kilometer course at Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. Rafla’s winning time of 15 minutes, 54.48 seconds was one of just two male performances under the 16-minute mark at state.
