Austin Hall, Rocky Mountain: The Grizzlies pulled off arguably the biggest upset of the season by defeating defending 5A state champion Borah 46-44, ending the Lions’ 40-game winning streak. Hall, a 6-foot-6 senior post, had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds in the victory. Earlier in the week, the Grizzlies beat Vallivue 54-39 and Hall contributed a team-leading 17 points and eight rebounds.
Liz Landreth, Capital: The Eagles won two games last week to advance to the championship game of the 5A District Three Tournament. Capital started off with a 45-39 win over Centennial in the quarterfinals, with Landreth scoring a game-best 23 points with 10 rebounds and four assists. Capital then upset top-ranked Rocky Mountain 30-28. Landreth scored four of Capital’s five points in the fourth quarter to finish as the only player in the game with double figures with 11 points. The senior also added four rebounds, three steals and two assists in the victory.
Kam Reddish, Columbia: The senior went 7-0 in wrestling matches last week, including a victory at 132 pounds at the Weiser Invitational. The two-time state champion earned an 11-4 decision over Melba’s Levi Perry in the title match, helping Columbia win the team championship at the invite. Reddish also won his match against Emmett by pin.
