Junior Taurie Pogue of Mountain View High and senior Casey Stangel of Lake City (Coeur d’Alene) were both named to the MaxPreps 2013 Preseason All-American Softball First Team.
Pogue, who played shortstop for the Mavericks last season, had a .551 batting average, 18 doubles, 12 home runs and 39 RBIs in 2012. She has committed to Cal.
Stangel is the two-time Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year and has signed with Missouri. Last season, Stangel posted a 22-2 record as Lake City’s pitcher with a .37 ERA and 218 strikeouts. She also batted .558 with 11 home runs, 59 RBIs and a 1.250 slugging percentage.
