Top albums of 2013

I awarded 10 points to each of these albums on my annual Pazz & Jop ballot. But if forced to choose, “Southeastern” is definitely my No. 1. (I didn’t vote for top singles this year at all; I started to get nauseous thinking about “Blurred Lines.”)

  • Jason Isbell, “Southeastern”
  • Arcade Fire, “Reflektor”
  • Parquet Courts, “Light Up Gold”
  • Kacey Musgraves, “Same Trailer Different Park”
  • Kurt Vile, “Wakin On a Pretty Daze”
  • Daft Punk, “Random Access Memories”
  • Death Grips, “Government Plates”
  • Queens of the Stone Age, “…Like Clockwork”
  • Jake Bugg, “Shangri La”
  • Franz Ferdinand, “Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action”
