Task force backs Common Core

Gov. Otter’s Task Force for Improving Education endorsed Common Core, new education standards for what students should learn that are making their way through Idaho schools this fall.

“We need more rigorous standards,” said Linda Clark, Meridian School District superintendent.

Critics have warned that the standards aren’t proven and have had little educator input.

“I have deep concerns,”said Geoffrey Thomas, Madison School District superintendent.

He was the lone vote against endorsing  Common Core.
