Tanks explode in Kuna shed fire Sunday

Kuna firefighters responding to a shed fire Sunday heard two explosions as they arrived in the 500 block of Avalon Street, southwest of Paul’s Market. The structure fire was reported at 6:23 p.m.

There were also power lines on the ground that were arcing, but residents in the area evacuated the area. There was a house about 15 feet from the shed, but no one was hurt by the fire or downed power lines, said fire engine driver Scott Smith.

At least two acetylene tanks in the shed exploded in the fire, Smith said. The tanks are used for welding. He said the shed, and its contents were a total loss.

Smith said there’s a suspicion that the cause was electrical, but it remains under investigation.
