Still spots in cold-water boating clinic

coldEver wonder why kayakers are dressed in dry tops or drysuits and wearing a life vest?

The life vest and clothing provide protection from cold water. Idaho’s waters – whether you’re a power boater on a reservoir or a paddler on a river – are cold. The Boise River yesterday was 41.5 degrees near the Broadway Bridge.

Anyway, openings are still available in cold-water safety clinic Saturday, May 11 at the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation headquarters, 5657 Warm Springs Ave. in Boise. It’s free.

Registration is required. Call 514-2412 or email David.Dahms@idpr.idaho.gov.
