Small number of tickets left for free ‘One Billion Rising’ dance on Saturday in Boise

The One Billion Rising free dance is to raise awareness to end violence against women and children on Saturday, Feb. 15  from 4-6 p.m, at Trey McIntyre Project Headquarters (2285 E. Warm Springs Ave.).

Dancing will be led by Kris Taylor from Deep Dance Experience. One Billion Rising was launched on Valentine’s Day 2012. It began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than one billion women and girls.

The Idaho Coalition Against Sexual & Domestic Violence will be present at the event to educate participants on what is going on in Idaho and how to take action. Donations will be accepted.

Participants can register for the free event by visiting the One Billion Rising – Boise Facebook page or http://onebillionrisingboise.eventbrite.com/ . Space is limited so please sign up early. The event is for adults only.
