Skinny Dipper Hot Springs, located off the highway between Banks and Garden Valley, is temporarily closed for safety.
The hot springs and surrounding area of 41 acres was closed by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management until June 30. The announcement was made April 4.
The hot springs are located north of the Banks to Lowman Highway, about four miles east of the community of Banks, Idaho.
The closure is the result of the 2012 Springs Fire, which resulted in the loss of stabilizing vegetation on steep, rocky slopes directly above the hot springs, which creates a serious public safety hazard, the federal agency said.
Spring rains could cause falling rock, flooding and debris flows through the hot springs.
It’s closed to all use. When it reopens, it will only be open to day use.
Anyone violating the closure may be fined $1,000 or get jail time of 12 months or both.
