Memorial services announced for Velma Morrison

The family of Velma V. Morrison announced two memorial services that will honor the longtime Boise patroness and community figure. Morrison, the widow of engineering mogul Harry W. Morrison, died June 20 in Rancho Mirage, Calif., at age 92.

Velma Morrison celebrated her 91st birthday with a party in Ann Morrison Park. Her late husband Harry Morrison built the park in 1957 to honor his first wife Ann Daly Morrison in 1957. He married Velma in 1959.

The two services honor different qualities of Morrison’s life, the family said in a press release.

“The first to remember Velma as a person of faith and family; the second to remember Velma as a person of the arts and community.”

The first service will be at 3 p.m. July 14 at the First United Methodist “Cathedral of the Rockies,” 717 N. 11 St., Boise.

The second larger community service will be held at the Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, 2201 Cesar Chavez Lane, on Boise State University’s campus. The date for sometime in early fall will be announced later.
