Saturday ‘Tougher than Cancer’ event will benefit Nick Schlader

Nampa police officer Nick Schlader was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma in 2013.

Schlader, who is married and the father of three, is continuing his cancer treatments at the John Wayne Institute in Los Angeles.

A fundraiser on Saturday, April 19 at the Knights of Columbus Bingo Hall, 2900 E. Railroad in Nampa, will help with his ongoing medical expenses.

Motorcycle riders are invited to participate in a ride leaving the Bingo Hall at 2 p.m. (the $30 ticket includes dinner). A group bike ride will also depart from the hall at 3 p.m. The bike ride is about 24 miles. The motorcycle ride will last about two hours.

The post-rides auction and raffle will start at the Bingo Hall at 5:30 p.m., a dinner of hamburgers and hot dogs will start at $6:30 p.m. Each dinner ticket is $10.
