Rapper Tech N9ne’s independent hip-hop empire

If you follow Boise’s concert scene, you’re aware that some touring acts seem to play Boise about every 5 minutes.

Tech N9ne, who will headline Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Knitting Factory, is one of those.

At some point, you have to wonder WHY he returns to the Knit in Boise so often.

Based on this revealing article about Tech N9ne and his Kansas City-based record label, Strange Music, it’s because the man is making good money every single time.

Forbes magazine recently put Tech N9ne on its list of “Hip Hop Cash Kings” — ahead of big names such as 50 Cent and Rick Ross. His estimated yearly take? $7.5 million. He and his business partner say their Strange Music empire pulls in just short of $20 million a year.
