The 1,150-mile Iditarod race is underway. Our sister paper in Alaska — The Anchorage Daily News — covers it closely, featuring daily stories, a live blog, daily standings and, of course, photo galleries.
Photos of “dropped dogs” — removed from the race due to injury, illness, fatigue, etc. — caught my eye yesterday. I particularly loved this photo, below, by Bill Roth of the Anchorage Daily News, which showed a dog peering out of a Cessna 185.
