Payette River rafting keeps on going

raftWhitewater rafting isn’t over for a long shot.

We ran the Main Payette River from Banks to Beehive Bend over the weekend and the flow is perfect. It’s splashy, the rapids are fun, and the water temperature is mild, especially when you get smacked in the face with a wave.

The river has been running between 3,000 and 3,200 cfs, which is a perfect fun flow.

The Main Payette River should run through September with outfitters offering day trips into fall. The river after Labor Day gets less use but the rapids are just as fun.

I’ve run the Main Payette below 2,000 cfs, in fact below 1,000 cfs, and it can be just as much fun. The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation is estimating that  the Main Payette will be around 1,600 cfs most of September.

Don’t hang up your oars or paddles just yet. I think the best is to come.
