Opera Idaho singers to perform at Boise Co-op

Boise Co-op is hosting Opera Idaho performers during First Friday, April 5.

Opera Idaho performances will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the café seating area located in the main store. The community is invited to listen and all ages welcome.

Boise Co-Op’s First Friday event happens monthly during regular store hours, 7 a.m. ti=o 10 o,n, and features specials and other community events.

Singers for Opera Idaho’s performance at Boise Co-op will be Amanda Gardner-Porter, soprano; Michele Detwiler (mezzo-soprano); Andrew Peck (tenor); and, Jason Detwiler, baritone. The husband-and-wife Detwilers recently performed as a married couple in Opera Idaho’s production of Hansel and Gretel – they have performed numerous other roles for Opera Idaho and opera companies throughout the United States.

Peck is Opera Idaho’s 2012/13 Artist-in-Residence and will be featured as Sam in the upcoming production of “Susannah.”

Gardner-Porter recently made a change from mezzo-soprano to soprano, debuting as a soprano in Hansel and Gretel – she will perform the role of Mrs. Hayes in “Susannah.” Principal Conductor/Artistic Advisor Steven Crawford will accompany the singers.
