The Boise State football team’s season-opening opponent will be without a key player for the Aug. 28 game in Atlanta.

Ole Miss has suspended All-SEC linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche for spring ball and the season opener. Nkemdiche’s penalty is part of a tumultuous offseason so far for the Rebels. Here is the full story from the Clarion Ledger newspaper.

The game is 176 days away.

Boise State begins spring ball Monday. New coach Bryan Harsin will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Thursday to preview the spring. I’ll post video and notes here as quickly as I can.

Next week, players, assistants and Harsin talk to the media Monday and players and assistants talk again Wednesday. The only practice time open to the media is the first 20 minutes Monday.

The scrimmages are April 5 and 12.

Brian Murphy and I will hold a live chat at 10 a.m. Tuesday to talk about spring ball, the new coaching staff, the recruiting class, etc.

You can sign up for a reminder below.

I plan to have a blog post every day through at least next Thursday. Our big spring preview will run in the paper either Sunday or Monday.
