The community is invited to an open house and ribbon cutting Saturday for the new state-of-the-art emergency department at Saint Alphonsus Nampa Health Plaza at Interstate 84 and Garrity Boulevard.
The event starts at 10 a.m. and includes free health screenings, raffles, refreshments, and children’s activities.
The 8,000-square-foot emergency department includes 11 beds, supported by full diagnostic radiology services including CT scanning and laboratory facilities.
“The ribbon cutting and open house gives individuals and families in our community the opportunity to celebrate positive growth in our area,” said Karl Keeler, CEO Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Nampa in a press release. “The new emergency department reinforces our mission of being a trusted partner for life. It also underscores our commitment to providing superior quality healthcare close to home and helping our communities grow and thrive.”
Saint Alphonsus Health System is investing $33.5 million in the Nampa community to expand access and enhance medical services. The new emergency department is part of a 62,000-square-foot expansion that will include the Fredric Birkeland Maternity Center. The 20-bed obstetrics unit is named in honor of Dr. Fred Birkeland., who delivered more than 5,000 babies in his career as an obstetrician in Canyon County before he passed away in 2007. Additionally, the Saint Alphonsus Nampa Health Plaza also will be home to a new comprehensive Heart Care Center with 10 cardiac care inpatient beds. The Heart Care Center and the Fredric Birkeland Maternity Center are expected to open later this year.
