The Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament raised enough money this year to award four $2,000 scholarships thanks to the 26 golf teams that participated in the annual Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament Friday and the 37 businesses and organizations sponsoring holes. This event raises money for Nampa summer youth golf programs, Mayor’s Teen Council and provides scholarships to high school senior golf students.
Mayor Bob Henry presented $2,000 scholarships each to the following high school seniors:
Nampa High School senior Hannah Schliep plans to attend Boise State University where she will study sociology.
Nampa Christian High School senior Kory Gaona plans to study communications at Northwest Nazarene University.
Skyview High School senior Paige Rose plans to attend College of Western Idaho where she will pursue training to become a physical therapy assistant.
Skyview High School senior Rachel Stucki plans to attend Brigham Young University – Idaho where she will study music education.
The Nampa Mayor’s Golf Tournament has raised nearly $85,000 for scholarships and youth golf programs over the 12 years it has been held.
Students who apply for the scholarships must attend high school and play on a high school golf team, live in Nampa or its impact area and have at least a 2.5 GPA. The Golf Commission chooses the scholarship winners based on community activities and an essay.
