Nampa high school seniors Devan Berg and Matthew Daniel of Skyview, Cali Carpenter of Nampa Christian and Steven Grow and Caleb Preece of Columbia have each received a $1,000 scholarship from Nampa Mayor Tom Dale.

Dale presented the scholarships following the annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament on Friday at Ridgecrest Golf Club.

This year 28 golf teams participated in the tournament, which raises money for summer youth golf programs and provides scholarships to high school senior golf students.

The annual tournament has raised more than $70,000 for scholarships and youth golf programs over the 11 years it has been held.

Golf scholarship applicants must live or attend high school in Nampa, play on a high school golf team and have at least a 2.5 grade-point average.  The Golf Commission chooses the scholarship winners based on community activities and an essay.
