The weather was great, and apparently others agreed that it was a great day to be on Lake Lowell on Saturday, May 4. I managed to catch one nice largemouth bass, but overall fishing was pretty slow for fly fishing. I’m guessing the bass tournament guys competing that day did considerably better. The one fish I landed was the biggest largemouth I’ve caught in quite a while, so that was a plus. No complaints there.
The lake looked like summer. There were anglers, pleasure boaters, sun bathers, and a big running race going on nearby, which made it a festive atmosphere. The County County Sheriff’s deputies were doing boat inspections at the launch, and fortunately, I had everything in order. Don’t forget to double check your registration and required gear before you head out in your boat this year. You don’t want your day spoiled by getting turned away at the boat ramp, or getting a citation after you get on the water.
Weather forecasts continue to look favorable, so get out on your favorite lake or reservoir and enjoy spring.
