Kris Bryant, the No. 2 overall pick in June’s MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs, made his home debut for the Boise Hawks on Friday. In his second at-bat, he ripped a three-run home run to left center as part of a sixth-run third inning for Boise. Check out the link above for video of his home run, taken by Boise Hawks radio announcer Mike Safford (@BoiseHawksRadio on Twitter). The homer comes at about 0:55 into the clip.
Bryant was 1-for-13 before his home run for the Hawks, who he joined Tuesday after a two-day stint in Mesa, Ariz. Bryant, who signed a $6.7 million bonus on July 10, is the highest-drafted player to ever play for Boise. He hit 31 home runs this past season for the University of San Diego, 10 more than any other player in college baseball.
