Meridian School District: Learn more about new Barbara Morgan Academy

The Meridian School District will hold three informational meetings this month on the new Barbara Morgan STEM Academy, which opens this fall at Linder Elementary School.

Wednesday, April 3, Linder Elementary, 1825 Chateau Dr.
Monday, April 8, Prospect Elementary, 4300 N. Red Horse Way
Wednesday, April 17, Hunter Elementary, 2051 W. McMillan Road
The meetings begin at 7 p.m.

The meetings will include presentations about science, technology, engineering and math education, an introduction of the school’s principal, Ryan Wilhite, who will share his vision for the school, and information from Barbara Morgan, who will be helping the school district create the new school’s academic program.

Morgan was an elementary teacher in McCall when she was selected to participate in NASA’s Teacher in Space program. In 2007, she logged more than 305 hours in space on shuttle Endeavour’s mission to the International Space Station. In 2008, Morgan joined Boise State as a distinguished educator in residence, helping with STEM policy and advocacy.
