Weeklong ‘Christmas in Meridian’ festivities start Monday

Here’s what’s happening:

BUSINESS DECORATING CONTEST: Starts Monday, Dec. 2. Shoppers have until Thursday, Dec. 5., to vote for their favorite (for the People’s Choice Award). Cast votes here.  (Contest presented by Idaho Independent Bank).

PARADE: The inaugural Winter Lights Parade will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6. Route: Main Street, from Franklin Road to Fairview Avenue. (Parade presented by Borton-Lakey Law and Policy).

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING: Meridian will light its Christmas tree Friday, Dec. 6, at Generations Plaza on the corner of Main Street and Idaho Avenue after the Winter Lights Parade.

CHILDREN’S WINTERLAND FESTIVAL: Pictures with Santa, cookie decorating, toy building, trolley rides, Christmas crafts and games from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Satuday, Dec. 7. Entry is free with a donation for the Meridian Food Bank; 1,580 pounds of food donated last year! (festival presented by All American Insurance).
