Meridian City Hall’s outdoor plaza will come alive with music again this summer in the 5th annual Concerts on Broadway series.
The live music series features three Saturday evening concerts — June 22, July 20 and Aug. 10 — performed in Meridian City Hall’s outdoor plaza and amphitheater, 33 E. Broadway Ave. in downtown Meridian. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
High Street will kick off the series on June 22, with its high-energy repertoire. Clad in their colorful zoot suits and signature fedoras, the ten-member group will delight the audience with cover songs and originals in a mixture of swing, blues, R&B, Latin, oldies and ballads.
On July 20, the big band dance orchestra the Kings of Swing will perform popular music from Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra and other music legends of that era. The Kings of Swing have been thrilling local and regional audiences with their elegant, stylish music since 1974.
The award winning jazz ensemble Kevin Kirk and Onomatopoeia will wrap up the Concerts on Broadway Series with a performance on Aug. 10. Jazz pianist Kirk and his ensemble are a favorite of Idaho audiences, performing unique compositions fusing musical styles including jazz, classical, rock, funk and Celtic.
While limited seating is available in the plaza’s built-in amphitheater, attendees are welcome to bring folding chairs, blankets, food and beverages to the concert.
The 2013 Concerts on Broadway summer music series is a project of the Meridian Arts Commission and is presented by Investment Resources of America.
