The committee has set its first meeting for Aug. 9 at the Statehouse.
At issue is the management of public lands — and the question of whether state lands management would yield more money for Idaho’s public school endowment. Many Republican legislators believe a transfer will help the state fund education. Environmentalists fear a wholesale disposal of public lands.
