Kittens! Kittens! Kittens! Canyon County Animal Shelter overrun — adoptions discounted

This adult cat — named Pumpkin — is free to anyone who wants to adopt him!

The Caldwell-based shelter has an overabundance of kittens — so they’re charging just $15 for those who want to adopt the little fluff balls (under 6 months) Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Adult cats are free.

Is it typical to have so many kittens at this time of year?

“Yeah, we tend to get big bunches of them in June, August and October,” shelter Director Barbara Hutchinson said. She noted that kitten season usually ends in November, so some are disappointed when they want to adopt kittens during the fall and winter holidays.

The shelter is at 5801 Graye Lane. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. See the shelter’s Web site and Facebook page.

This cat’s nickname is Chohee. She’s an adult, and she’s free this weekend.
