Former Boise State quarterback Kellen Moore tossed two touchdown passes Thursday night and assembled a nearly perfect quarterback rating.
Moore, playing the second half of the Lions’ preseason game in place of backup Shaun Hill, was 9-of-12 for 150 yards and two touchdowns. He threw TD passes of 22 and 15 yards and led a drive for a field goal. The last TD drive was 12 plays, 96 yards in 6 minutes, 9 seconds.
Moore’s quarterback rating was 156.3. A perfect rating in the NFL is 158.3.
The Lions beat the Patriots 40-9.
Moore’s effort caught the attention of Sports Illustrated’s Greg Bedard.
“Kellen Moore is doing a really nice job. He’s going to be around this league for a while,” Bedard wrote on Twitter. “Moore was really knocked in the pre-draft process, undrafted. He’s just got something. Arm looks better because he’s got great anticipation.”
NFL Network replayed the game at 10 p.m. Thursday night. It’s on again at 2 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.
Moore made the Lions roster last year as the No. 3 quarterback. Not all teams keep three quarterbacks and he’s trying to hold that same spot this year, behind starter Matthew Stafford and the veteran Hill.
