You might remember Jani from the blog post titled Jack and Jani posted on April 21, 2013 http://blogs.idahostatesman.com/jack-and-jani/
Jani was adopted in May but found herself back at the shelter in September after her owner moved out and left her behind with roommates. The roommates had only nice things to say about Jani but couldn’t commit to keeping her. At the shelter Jani is very awkward in her kennel she cowers when you walk by instead of greeting you with a tail wag. Once you get her out she’s a different girl and I wish everyone could see that side of her. She loves to fetch a tennis ball, she loves to run zoomies, she loves to play in the doggy pools in the warmer weather, and she loves the snow!
Prior to going to lunch H.J. took Jani out to the big yard to play in the snow. The minute H.J. took her leash off she was running zoomies with pure delight. Just when she thought it couldn’t get any better she found a tennis ball! Occasionally she’d loose the ball in the snow and need help locating it but once she did she was off and running!
On the menu Hamburger Jeff took Jani to Big Bun for finger steaks and French fries.
Jani was super excited to load up in the car. She’s been to lunch with H.J. several times so she knew she was in for a treat. She joyfully played with a toy while waiting for lunch to be delivered. Once lunch was on the table Jani knew exactly what to do and sat so nicely waiting for a bite and she was so gentle with her mouth. It didn’t take much to fill this girls belly and then she was content to relax.
Due to inclement weather after lunch H.J. took Jani to D & B Supply to walk around and then to Petsmart. Idaho Humane Society employees in the Enhanced Adoption Center located inside Petsmart were all eager to greet her. Jani greeted everyone with a tail wag and that big pitty smile. Jani even got to visit with Santa and when Santa asked her what was on her list she said she’d really like a home for Christmas.
Upon returning to the shelter H.J. took Jani out to the yard to run in the snow before putting her back in her kennel. A few little dogs were in the neighboring yard and Jani saw it as an opportunity to have some fun. Little Wilbur and Jani ran the fence together for what seemed like forever. They’d get to one end stop turn around and race to the other. Wilbur did a good job of catching up to Jani.
A few people on her lunch outing called Jani handsome because she was wearing a blue bandanna. We decided to set the record straight and purchased a new purple collar with a flower on it for her while we were at petsmart so there would be no further confusion.

This lunch date was sponsored by the Vonder Haar Family. They recently discovered their newest family member after reading the blog post from October 31st titled A second chance at life http://blogs.idahostatesman.com/a-second-chance-at-life/
They were so thankful to find Buster formerly Tahoe they wanted to pay it forward by making a donation so other families can learn about these awesome dogs! Thankfully Buster will be spending his first Christmas with 2 canine siblings in the most loving home. Buster pictured below with Tucker & Gunner!
