In Vallivue, it’s time to name that school

First, voters in Canyon County’s Vallivue School District agreed to pay for a new high school. Now, they’ll get a say in picking a name, mascot and color scheme.

survey is available on the Vallivue district’s website.

And the plan is to gradually narrow down the list of ideas. In November, the public can vote from a field of 10 semifinalists. When the field is narrowed down to five finalists, a second vote will be held in December.

The Vallivue School Board will give its final approval in January.

Voters approved a $50 million bond issue in May to finance a new high school — to supplement an overcrowded Vallivue High School. The new school is scheduled to open in 2016.

By the way, Vallivue high goes by the nickname Falcons; the school colors are brown and gold.
