In Coeur d’Alene, the GOP censure bid that wasn’t

A couple of days ago, we wrote about a movement within Kootenai County GOP circles to censure Senate Education Committee Chairman John Goedde and three House Republicans.

On Tuesday night, the censure bid fizzled.

After about a hour’s worth of parliamentary squabbling, the central committee determined that it did not have the authority to censure anyone outside the committee.

“If we can censure someone outside this body we could censure the president of the United States,” said central committee member Luke Sommer, according to the Coeur d’Alene Press.

Some committee members sought to punish Goedde and Reps. Frank Henderson, Luke Malek and Ed Morse for supporting a state-run health insurance exchange.
