Ty Jones was chosen Wednesday morning as the Idaho High School Activities Association’s next executive director.
Jones will succeed current director John Billetz beginning July 1.
A native of Idaho, Jones graduated from Boise State in 1989. He received both a Master of Education and Education Specialist degree from the University of Idaho. He began his educational career as a teacher and coach in 1989 at Twin Falls High. He has since served as a teacher, coach and administrator at Gooding and Jerome high schools before becoming elementary principal and superintendent of the Hagerman School District in 2012.
Jones was one of three finalists interviewed for the executive director position.
“John Billetz is to be commended for effectively leading the Idaho High School Activities Association for the past eight years,” IHSAA Board President Richard Bauscher said in a press release. “Ty will find that the IHSAA is a dynamic, well-run organization, and the board is confident that he has the necessary skills to keep this momentum going.”
