Idaho’s Ira Amyx continues to grow his acting career in Chicago

Check out the fantastic review of Ira Amyx in the Chicago Tribune for his performance in “The Seafarer,” a darkly ironic Christmas play by Irish playwright Conor McPherson at Seanachai Theatre Co.

Since moving to Chicago in 2007, Amyx has steadily gained attention for his work in that city’s thriving theater scene.

In 2011 he was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago’s version of a Tony, for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Play, for Seanachai’s production of “That Was Then.”

I would not be surprised for him to receive another nom for this performance.

Amyx started his theater career in Boise. He studied with Fool Squad co-founder Tom Willmorth as a student at Vallivue High School. He performed for a few seasons with Idaho Shakespeare Festival before heading off to the University of Indiana for graduate school.
