Idaho Native Plant Society hosts last presentation of the season on Tuesday, April 8

Chris Colson, INPS Pahove chapter member and regional biologist for Duck Unlimited, will give a presentation titled “Irrigated Wet Meadows, Livestock and Ducks — Debunking the Bias, at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8 at the MK Nature Center, 600 S. Walnut in Boise.

Flood-irrigated wet meadows on private working lands in the Snake River Plain provide the critical staging resources for migrating waterbirds and replaces our lost floodplain functions. Colson will talk about how the maintenance of this agricultural practice is critical to continental waterbird populations, basic human values and other ecosystem services often taken for granted.

The presentation is free, and plant lovers should plan ahead: The society’s annual native plant sale is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 26 at the MK Nature Center. We’ll keep you posted.
