Ice goes slowly at Lucky Peak Reservoir

lucky paeakSome boat anglers are squeezing into the narrow pieces of open water at Lucky Peak Reservoir as ice starts to melt.

The only place to launch is at Turner Gulch.

Some anglers are hoping to find the kokanee, which should be suspended at about 15 feet deep. At least that’s the word from anglers I met at the Sportsman’s Show Thursday night.

The show is going on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Expo Idaho (Fairgrounds) in Garden City.

By the way, there is open water from Macks Creek to Arrowrock Dam on Lucky Peak Reservoir. You can’t launch at Macks Creek because it is closed, unless you want to carry a canoe or fishing cat down to the water.

The area is being used by bank anglers.
