There are 20 former Boise State football players on NFL rosters this preseason. Here is a look at each guy’s situation:

Jamar Taylor, Dolphins
Position: Cornerback
Number: 22
Year: Rookie
Notes: Taylor didn’t play in the preseason opener, so he’s not listed among the top six cornerbacks on the depth chart. He still is working his way back from a hernia. Here is an update.

Kyle Wilson, Jets
Position: Cornerback
Number: 20
Year: Fourth
Notes: Wilson, a former first-round pick, is the Jets’ No. 3 cornerback. He likely will play slot cornerback but the Jets also are experimenting with using him as a safety. Here is a story.

George Iloka, Bengals
Position: Safety
Number: 43
Year: Second
Notes: Iloka is listed as the starting strong safety, ahead of Taylor Mays and Shawn Williams. This after playing little as a rookie. Here is a story that calls strong safety the most hotly contested job in Bengals camp.

Tommy Smith, Browns
Position: Linebacker
Number: 42
Year: Rookie
Notes: Free-agent signee is listed as the No. 3 left inside linebacker on The Browns haven’t released a depth chart.

Billy Winn, Browns
Position: Defensive lineman
Number: 90
Year: Second
Notes: Winn had a terrific rookie season and is the backup left defensive end right now on a deep defensive line. Here is a story.

Ryan Clady, Broncos
Position: Left tackle
Number: 78
Year: Sixth
Notes: Clady just returned to the practice field as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery. He also has a new contract — five years, $52.5 million. Here is a story.

Tyler Shoemaker, Chiefs
Position: Wide receiver
Number: 14
Year: First (not considered a rookie because he was not in college last year)
Notes: Shoemaker is not listed among the top six receivers.

Tyrone Crawford, Cowboys
Position: Defensive lineman
Number: 98
Year: Second
Notes: Crawford will miss the entire season with a torn Achilles tendon. Here is an update.

Orlando Scandrick, Cowboys
Position: Cornerback
Number: 32
Year: Sixth
Notes: Scandrick is a backup cornerback and the slot corner. Here is an update. Odd that the first three Google news entries for Scandrick had to do with his house, a teammate’s trial and who he’s dating.

Update: A new entry was added to Scandrick’s news items Sunday night — he was tossed from practice for making contact with an official.

Shea McClellin, Bears
Position: Defensive end
Number: 99
Year: Second
Notes: McClellin is listed as a co-starter at left defensive end with Corey Wootton. McClellin has been scrutinized greatly since the day he was taken in the first round of the draft. Here is the latest from the Chicago Tribune.

Kellen Moore, Lions
Position: Quarterback
Number: 17
Year: Second
Notes: Moore should get a lot of playing time this preseason as he tries to stick on the roster as the No. 3 quarterback for the second straight year. Many teams only carry two quarterbacks. Here is a story on Moore’s progress since last year.

Chase Baker, Vikings
Position: Defensive tackle
Number: 62
Year: First
Notes: Baker was on the practice squad last year and is listed as the No. 3 nose tackle this year.

Richie Brockel, Panthers
Position: Tight end
Number: 47
Year: Third
Notes: Brockel is listed as the third tight end. He knocked the Bears’ long snapper out of the game last week with a hit on special teams.

Chris Carr, Saints
Position: Cornerback
Number: 40
Year: Ninth
Notes: Carr was reunited with Rob Ryan, who was the defensive coordinator for the Raiders when Carr began his career there. Here is a story.

Doug Martin, Buccaneers
Position: Running back
Number: 22
Year: Second
Notes: Martin will be one of the most popular picks in fantasy drafts after his breakout rookie season. He also has become a leader for the Bucs already. Here is a story.

Daryn Colledge, Cardinals
Position: Right guard
Number: 71
Year: Eighth
Notes: Colledge switched sides of the line this season but remains an NFL starter. Here is a funny story about Colledge and Nate Potter (below) growing beards with their teammates on the O-line.

Nate Potter, Cardinals
Position: Offensive tackle
Number: 76
Year: Second
Notes: He is listed as the backup left tackle behind Levi Brown but it is considered an open competition between the two for the starting job. Here is a story about that competition.

Austin Pettis, Rams
Position: Wide receiver
Number: 18
Year: Third
Notes: He is listed as a backup wide receiver. He is the longest-tenured receiver or running back on the team. Here is that story.

D.J. Harper, 49ers
Position: Running back
Number: 36
Year: Rookie
Notes: Harper made a strong early impression with the 49ers — story here — but lost a fumble that was returned for a TD in last week’s game.

Jeron Johnson, Seahawks
Position: Safety
Number: 32
Year: Third
Notes: He is the backup strong safety.

Tommy Gallarda, Falcons
Gallarda was released after reaching an injury settlement because of a shoulder issue. Here is a story.
