Great winter hiking in Snake River Canyon

canyonIt was sweater weather in the Snake River Canyon New Year’s Day on the trails near Celebration Park, south of Nampa.

You couldn’t beat the mild 38-40 degree temperatures for a hike along the river with herons, coots, gulls and other birds putting on a display.

The Canyon County Park in the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey Natural Conservation Area is ideal this time of the year for all kinds of activities. Large groups of horseback riders were on the trails along with hikers. Anglers were trying their luck in the Snake River and picnickers relaxed at the park.

The weather should hold out for a while and this area makes a great place to take the relatives during the holidays.

Happy New Year and good hiking. Riding. Fishing.
