After losing his beloved 12-year-old pitbull Sadie some years ago, Jeff Sanderson signed up as a volunteer at the Canyon County animal shelter. He gained a bit of fame — and a nickname, “Hamburger Jeff” — because of his habit of taking a different shelter dog out for lunch.
Sanderson will be posting updates about his lunches and his canine dining companions on this site.
Meet Trixie, H.J.’s most recent guest.
The details: Trixie is a 9-year-old purebred Saint Bernard, size “XL.” H.J says she loves to ride in the car, is good on the leash and has had all her shots. She does not care for cats, small dogs and would do best as a house’s sole dog. She’s an older dog, but has lots of spirit, said H.J. “She’s very loving,” he added.
The lunch: H.J. took Trixie to Goodwood Barbecue for a Philly steak sandwich. As usual, H.J. had a couple bites, but gave the rest to the dog of the day. “She’s a big girl. She needs a big lunch,” he said.
She is available now at the Canyon County Animal Shelter:http://www.canyoncountyshelter.org/dogs.php

You have a heart and soul bigger than life to take care of and treat these fuzzy creatures the way you do. I hope some business owners recognize this and treat you and the loving critters to free lunch. If we cross paths, there will be steak sandwich for all. LOL
Thanks for the nice comment, Terry. We at the Statesman think Hamburger Jeff is pretty cool, too.
Anna, is Jeff himself going to write these himself or are you going to continue using his name in a confusing manner?
All the information comes straight from Hamburger Jeff. It’s just sometimes easier for me to post for him, since I’m at a computer more often. Thanks for reading the blog.
