Gear Tuesday: Rubber tips for trekking poles

polesI’ve seen a lot of folks using trekking poles for walking Downtown when conditions are icy.

They really help. But if you are going to use your trekking poles on pavement and concrete, you might want to cover the metal tips with Walking Tips. They help with grip and stability on pavement and other smooth surfaces.

REI’s Trekking Pole Walking Tips are compatible with Komperdell and REI poles.

Using trekking poles on icy streets and sidewalks is a great safety feature. I’ve learned the hard way this winter.

Cost: $7.50 a pair.
