Garden City celebrates new water tank

Garden City officials  plan to gather Thursday morning to celebration the completion of a new 750,000-gallon water reservoir facility at 165 E. 46th St.

“This facility is the first reservoir ever built in Garden City and now will provide further assurance to our residents and businesses of an ample water supply for fire protection as well as ongoing and emergency water needs,” Mayor John Evans said in a press release Wednesday.

The $2 million tank was the last project in the Garden City Renewal Agency’s River Front Urban Renewal District. The project included a booster pump station and improvements to other existing facilities.
