Fulcher raised $250k in 10 weeks for challenge to Otter

Senate Republican Caucus Chairman Russ Fulcher says he raised $250,000 for his campaign to unseat GOP Gov. Butch Otter in the May 20 Idaho primary.

Otter raised about $686,000 during the July to December reporting period, Fulcher didn’t begin campaigning until forming an exploratory committee in mid-October.

As of 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Fulcher had not filed his Sunshine Report with the Secretary of State. His announcement came in a news release. It’s unclear whether Fulcher, who works in commercial real estate, contributed a significant amount himself. Fulcher and other candidates have until Friday to file their reports.

Fulcher attributed Otter’s bigger take to the power of incumbency.

“It was no surprise to us that Gov. Otter called upon friends like NJ Governor Chris Christie, San Francisco liberal Greg Wendt, casino moguls, government contract holders, and PACS across the country to help fill his campaign account,” said Fulcher in the news release. “These folks are interested in the status quo and not bringing real improvements to Idaho.”

State Senator Russ Fulcher Releases End of Year Fundraising Totals and Comments from Regional Supporters

“Sometimes, when politicians spend too much time in office, power and money corrupt one’s principals. However, my family and I believe this will not happen to Russ Fulcher. We support his uncompromising commitment to the American values of individual freedom, states’ rights, and limited government.”– Justin Wilkerson, Harry Morrison Foundation

January 30th, 2014

(Meridian, ID) Senator Russ Fulcher today released his end-of-year fundraising total of $250K.

Russ Fulcher,  a 4th generation Idahoan has a career as a businessman in the high-tech sector and commercial real estate.  He announced plans to challenge Governor Otter for the Republican nomination late last year.

Senator Fulcher said of his fundraising report, “Kara and I are so blessed to have so many new and old friends that believe in my candidacy for Governor of Idaho. We are truly grateful for the support of each person and every donation from $1 to $5,000 to fund our volunteer-powered campaign.”

“It was no surprise to us that Gov. Otter called upon friends like NJ Governor Chris Christie, San Francisco liberal Greg Wendt, casino moguls, government contract holders, and PACS across the country to help fill his campaign account,” said Fulcher.   “These folks are interested in the status quo and not bringing real improvements to Idaho.”

Between now and Election Day, Senator Fulcher will be travelling the state having conversations with everyday Idahoans. They will discuss how their shared values will empower Idahoans and advance the state in education, healthcare, and the economy.

Said Russ Fulcher, “I have made a promise to the voters that I will stand up to the government intrusions we have seen and will continue to see in healthcare, education, and access to our natural resources within Idaho. This will be a tough race but as the grassroots momentum continues to build, I will not give up, and I will work hard to share my message with the citizens of this great state.”

Regional Statements from donors

The Honorable Janice McGeachin, Owner, Multiple Businesses, Idaho Falls:

“I want a bold leader who will support solid Republican principles of less government and individual responsibility.  I want a leader who will push for lower taxes and not have to say “Convince me” first.  Current tax policy allows money to be legally transferred out of Idaho, even our country, instead of being re-invested in inventories, equipment, and people for job creation.  I want a leader who will push back against growing federal power by asserting our state sovereignty instead of bowing to special interests.  These principles of prosperity will bring a future of hope and opportunity for our young people.  A terrible travesty is being laid at their feet.  I will support Russ Fulcher for Governor.  Together, we fought for these same principles in the Idaho Legislature.  Russ Fulcher is the kind of leader Idaho deserves.”

Justin Wilkerson, Harry Morrison Foundation:

“Sometimes, when politicians spend too much time in office, power and money corrupt one’s principals. However, my family and I believe this will not happen to Russ Fulcher. We support his uncompromising commitment to the American values of individual freedom, states’ rights, and limited government.”

Mel and Joy Snider, Owner, Ag Concepts, Meridian:

“We have known Russ Fulcher and his family for years. He is a good person, a great leader and has the courage we are all looking for to stand up for Idahoans. Russ Fulcher will be a great Governor.”

Dr. Ron Rock, Owner, Northwest Specialty Hospital, Post Falls:

“I support Russ Fulcher and his decision to stand up against the state run, federal insurance exchange that continues to prop-up the job-killing Obamacare. Russ understands that we need a system in place that incentivizes competition to increase access, quality, and transparency, and keep costs affordable.”

Dr. Ron Nate, Professor of Economics, Rexburg:

“Senator Russ Fulcher opposes government intrusions into what is rightly reserved for individuals to choose for themselves.   Fulcher is the candidate who has demonstrated a clear vision of what Idaho should and, more importantly, should not do.  Fulcher gives me confidence that principles do not have to be sacrificed in order to govern well.  Senator Fulcher is not for money or for power.  He is for principles, for people, and most of all, Fulcher is for Idaho.”

Dana and Viki Purdy, Owner, XP Ranch, New Meadows:

“We chose to support Russ Fulcher because he is a man of integrity and principle. As Idaho is tops in the nation for minimum wage jobs, Russ Fulcher has the business background that gives him the expertise to put the right policies in place to ensure that opportunities exist in the future for our children and grandchildren.”

Darr and Dorothy Moon, Owner, Moon and Associates Engineering, Custer County:

“I chose to support Russ Fulcher for Governor because it is past time for our leaders to stand up to the federal government. Due to lack of leadership, government intrusion into our lives has now encroached on all fronts—our land, our healthcare, and our education. Russ Fulcher is the man for the job and I support him.”
