Updates from two former Treasure Valley high school athletes who are now competing at the college level.
Stephen Shaw, Capital: The redshirt freshman at the University of Montana was recently named to the second annual College Sports Journal Football Championship Subdivision Freshman All-America team. Shaw, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound punter, also was an honorable mention All-Big Sky pick last season. Shaw averaged 41.8 yards a punt on 54 attempts. He had 11 punts of 50 or more yards, with a career-long of 62 yards against Southern Utah. Shaw was ranked 20th in the country in punting, averaging 41.83 yards. He made 23-of-54 (42.6%) of his punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.
Brandon Luedtke, Mountain View: The freshman at Willamette University recorded his first double-double as a Bearcat last week. The post scored a career-high 13 points with a career-best 10 rebounds as the Willamette men’s basketball team defeated Whitman College 82-68.
