Former Eagle QB Taylor Kelly still racing at Firebird

Former Eagle quarterback Taylor Kelly, now the starting quarterback at Arizona State, returned to Firebird Raceway this off-season. He and his family have spent their summers drag racing, according to the Pac-12′s blog and video.

His care is No. 10 (his uniform number) and has Arizona State decals.

Kelly, a 2010 Eagle High graduate, led the Mustangs to the 2009 5A state title. Kelly redshirted in 2010 at Arizona State and was the team’s backup quarterback in 2011. He won the starting job in 2012 and finished second in the Pac-12 and ninth in the country in passing efficiency at 159.88.

Arizona State finished the season 8-5 with a victory against Navy in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco. The Sun Devils open the 2013 season against Sacramento State on Sept. 5.
