Former Boise State RB D.J. Harper runs 40 in 4.50 seconds

Former Boise State tailback D.J. Harper ran a pair of unofficial 4.50-second 40-yard dashes Sunday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

His official time, released later: 4.52 seconds.

That ranks tied for sixth among the 33 running backs who ran Sunday. The faster guys were Auburn’s Onterio McCalebb (4.34), Arkansas’ Knile Davis (4.37), Utah State’s Kerwynn Williams (4.48), UCLA’s Johnathan Franklin (4.49) and LSU’s Michael Ford (4.50). Oregon’s Kenjon Barner also ran 4.52.

Here are the rest of Harper’s workout numbers:

Size: 5-foot-9, 211 pounds
Bench press: 23 reps at 225 pounds (10th out of 31 running backs)
40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds (tied for 6th out of 33)
Vertical jump: 33.5 inches (tied for 15th out of 32)
Broad jump: 10 feet (12th out of 32)
Three-cone drill: 7.07 seconds (14th out of 23)
20-yard shuttle: 4.35 seconds (14th out of 24)
60-yard shuttle: 11.85 seconds (10th out of 16)
