Freshman All-American defensive end Sam Ukwuachu has found a new home at Baylor.

Ukwuachu, who was dismissed from the Broncos team earlier this month, confirmed his transfer in an interview with the Waco Tribune-Herald.

Ukwuachu started 12 games last season at Boise State and was expected to be one of the team’s defensive stars in 2013 before he was dismissed.

“It was a personal issue that I don’t want to go in depth with,” Ukwuachu told the Waco newspaper. “But it wasn’t a big issue. A minor problem occurred and the coaches decided I needed to get a fresh start with somebody else.”

Baylor would not confirm the transfer.

Baylor recruited Ukwuachu out of Pearland High, but he opted to leave his home state. He redshirted at Boise State in 2011 and recorded 4.5 sacks in 2012.

“I didn’t want to be in Texas out of high school,” Ukwuachu told the Tribune-Herald. “But I began looking at my options and I wanted to be closer to home.”

Meanwhile, former starting safety Lee Hightower has posted online that he committed to Houston. Hightower started the first seven games last season before he was suspended from the team for the rest of the season. He then was suspended from school.

Hightower did not respond to an interview request. Houston would not confirm the transfer.
