For would-be Boise school board candidates, the clock is ticking

Six candidates have put their name in for an opening on the Boise School Board.

The application deadline is 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The applications are available online — but applicants must drop off their materials in person at the district’s offices, 8169 W. Victory Road.

The School Board will select a new board member at its June 10 meeting. The appointee’s term would run through the September 2014 School Board election.

The district is looking for a successor for Janet Orndorff, a 23-year board member who died of breast cancer in March.

Boise already filled one board vacancy earlier this year. Shauneen Grange was appointed to the board in February. The former redistricting commission member, Democratic legislative aide and city staffer was selected from a field of 10 applicants to succeed 26-year board veteran Rory Jones.
